A genome skim database for the arctic-alpine flora

My research focuses on the mechanisms driving the evolution of species’ ecological niches and geographic ranges, how these processes relate to speciation and clade diversification, and ultimately how they shape the structure of natural communities (and ecosystems). I am also interested in how these processes explain patterns of species rarity and endemism, and the potential threats to biodiversity in a context of global environmental changes.

I’m interested in developing and applying bioinformatics tools to analyze data produced by high-throughput techniques to address questions in ecology, evolution, biodiversity, systematics and population genomics.

My job spans differents aspects of geomatics. It goes from spatial data administration, acquisition, analysis to cartographic production.

I have several research areas including investigating the impacts of global change on biodiversity, understanding macro-scale biodiversity distribution, understanding what makes a good invader and how to predict its potential distribution and finally how and why species co-exist together. To work on these issues, I am conducting observational and experimental studies, simulation experiments, statistical analyses of empirical data and mechanistic modeling.

Mes recherches se portent sur la systématique et l’évolution des espèces et la compréhension des processus écologiques et neutres à l’origine de leur diversification. Particulièrement, je m’intéresse au développement et à l’utilisation de nouveaux outils bioinformatiques dans l’ère des nouvelles générations de séquençage génomique à haut débit pour l’inférence de phylogénies à large échelle.

My main research topics include plant and ecosystems ecology, macroecology, biodiversity, and evolutionary and functional ecology. I have a considerable expertise in the conceptual and scientific advancement of predictive distribution modeling, in modelling climate change impacts on species, ecosystems and biodiversity, and in functional and evolutionary analyses related to biodiversity and community ecology.

Rolland Douzet est directeur-adjoint du jardin du Lautaret. Il y travaille depuis une vingtaine d'années. Il est en parallèle professeur de biologie végétale, de botanique, de biodiversité écologie évolution, à l'Université Grenoble Alpes. Il organise, tous les étés au Lautaret, une formation diplômante de 10 jours en botanique et écologie végétale alpine.

Jean-Gabriel Valay est le directeur du jardin du Lautaret depuis 2015. Il est également enseignant chercheur à l'Université Grenoble Alpes, chargé de mission CNRS et membre de plusieurs conseils scientifiques ou de comité de pilotages/direction dans différentes structures (observatoire des sciences de l'univers de Grenoble, zone atelier Alpes, FreeAlpes, AnaEE).

Prof. Alsos uses ancient sedimentary DNA to study climate and human impact on past ecosystem diversity, species persistence, and ecosystem build-up in arctic and alpine regions. She has also assembled large-scale genome-skims of vascular plants which greatly improves species identification in eDNA studies. Her research group is currently moving towards full-ecosystems reconstruction providing new data on the past diversity of a range of organisms in terrestrial and marine environments.

Marie Merkel is working as lab manager for the genetic laboratories at the arctic univeristy museum (Tromsø univeristy museum).

My group is interested in the relationships between genome structure and evolutionary / functional traits. We investigate plant comparative genomics, aiming at deciphering the role of gene duplications in functional diversification. Recently, we start applying genomics methods to describe microbial ecosystems, and to study genetic interactions in complex symbiotic associations.

I am an evolutionary biologist broadly interested in the ecological and evolutionary mechanisms that shape niche evolution and geographic ranges of living organisms. Since 2019 I have a 5-year position as a researcher and teacher in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where I mostly collaborate with Dra. Mercè Galbany Casals and Dr. Llorenç Sáez Goñalons, two highly qualified botanists and researchers in Systematics and Conservation Biology.
